Chungará Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, located more than 4,500 meters above sea level within Lauca National Park, in the highlands of the Arica and Parinacota Region. Its blue waters perfectly reflect the silhouette of the Parinacota volcano, creating one of the most impressive postcard views in Chile, surrounded by wetlands where vicuñas, alpacas, and llamas graze.

The area has viewpoints set up by CONAF right along the international Route 11-CH, making it easily accessible by car from Putre or Arica. It is home to rich birdlife including flamingos, giant coots, and rheas. Visitors are advised to acclimatize before the visit due to the altitude, bring warm clothing and sunscreen, and take their time to unhurriedly admire a landscape that takes your breath away in every sense.
